The Systems Engineer position at SingularisIT is open to experienced Systems Administrators who want to apply their knowledge to a wider range of systems and networking applications which will have a direct effect on the growth of a Managed Hosting Company. In this job you will:
- Design and implement internal tools to help monitoring and manage our infrastructure
- Automate internal processes to improve reliability and efficiency
- Provide training on internal systems and processes to other team members
- Design and execute migrations and upgrades of client environments
- Provide creative solutions to problems using a wide range of technology, favoring built-in tools or OSS over 3rd party or vendor solutions
- Deploy and manage remote networks
- Document internal and client infrastructure
- Configure and install hardware at co-location facilities
You should be able to:
- Create accurate documentation and training, explain complex systems simply and precisely
- Serve as an escalation point for internal and client issues from other teams
- Experience creating growth plans for compute, storage, and network systems
- Prioritize competing projects and deadlines and assist other teams in managing migrations or projects
- Troubleshoot and solve problems using common tools
- Communicate effectively with clients through ticketing systems and telephone
- Self-learn new technologies and systems
Qualifications
- 4-year degree preferred
- At least 4 years of experience in a similar role with Windows, Linux, and Networking experience
- Strong knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 network designs and troubleshooting
- Strong multi-vendor knowledge of stateful firewalls, NAT, routing, and VPNs
- Strong troubleshooting abilities with HTTP load balancers and proxies
- Proficient in one or more common scripting languages, PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.
- Experience with automation and orchestration systems and the ability to integrate them into existing environments
- Experience deploying Windows Remote Desktop Session hosts/VDI
- Managed/Deployed VMWare vSphere environments
- Experience with Microsoft licensing concepts and limitations
- Experience with compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS
